Autism spectrum disorder

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental condition characterized by challenges in communication, social interactions, and a tendency towards repetitive behaviors or restricted interests. Many individuals with ASD may have reduced sensitivity to pain but heightened sensitivity to sensory stimuli like sounds or touch, which can manifest in behavioral reactions such as avoiding cuddling or being held.

One of the most noticeable signs of ASD is difficulty with social interaction, often recognized by parents early on. Even as infants, children with autism may demonstrate different reactions compared to their peers.

It’s important to note that the autism spectrum is wide-ranging and diverse, leading to significant variations among individuals with ASD. Despite this diversity, there are seven main challenges commonly experienced by children with autism.
